Chancellor's Associates Faculty Excellence Awards 2016-2017

Program Overview:

Each year, the UC San Diego Chancellor's Associates recognize faculty members for their scholarship and overall contributions to the University and the community with a citation and honorarium in the amount of $2,500. Nominations will be accepted during the fall quarter and presentations made at the April 6, 2017 Chancellor's Associates Faculty Excellence Awards Ceremony. One faculty member will be selected in each of the following categories:

  • Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching
  • Excellence in Graduate Teaching
  • Excellence in Research in Humanities & Social Sciences
  • Excellence in Research in Science & Engineering
  • Excellence in Community Service
  • Excellence in Performing & Visual Arts

Nomination Process:

The Vice Chancellors of Academic Affairs, Health Sciences and Marine Sciences invite nominations in each of the six categories according to the process defined by each individual Vice Chancellor area. Start your nomination via the button below.

Nomination Tips:

Over time, as the quality of the candidates has increased, selection committees have found it more difficult to choose award winners. Consequently, we asked the Chancellor’s Associates Faculty Excellence Awards Selection Committee members to tell us what types of things most influenced their decisions.

Committee members indicated that the ultimate selections made are influenced by:

  • the depth and quality of nominations
  • the strength and enthusiasm of nominations
  • having input from more than one nominator

We hope these comments from past selection committee members give your candidates the best possible opportunity for a recognition award. Good luck and thank you for participating in the Chancellor’s Associates faculty recognition program.
