Chancellor's Associates Faculty Excellence Awards Call Letter
I write to invite and strongly encourage your nominations for the 2016/17 Chancellor’s Associates Faculty Excellence Awards. These awards are given annually to deserving members of the UC San Diego faculty and consist of a citation and honorarium of $2,500. Presentations of these awards will be made at the Chancellor’s Associates Faculty Excellence Awards Ceremony on April 5, 2017.
The categories for nomination are as follows:
- Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching
- Excellence in Graduate Teaching
- Excellence in Research in Humanities & Social Sciences
- Excellence in Research in Science & Engineering
- Excellence in Community Service
- Excellence in Performing & Visual Arts
The selection process and the criteria that will be used to evaluate the nominees can be viewed on the main Chancellor's Associates Faculty Excellence Awards page.
When submitting the online application, the descriptions of the candidate's qualifications and accomplishments should be written in language easily understood by a general audience and should augment the candidate's curriculum vitae. A letter of endorsement from the Dean, Provost or Vice Chancellor is required for each nominee. The Letter of Endorsement is enormously useful in the process of comparing nominees, and it does carry a great deal of weight, in conjunction with the application. Note: To find out what types of things most influence the Selection Committee's decision in selecting winners of excellence awards, please reference the Nomination TIPS located on the Chancellor’s Associates Faculty Excellence web page.
Please submit the online applications on the nomination page for your respective area, by November 11, 2016 EXTENDED DEADLINE: Friday, November 18, 2016. Should you have any questions about the process contact Janka Bond at (858) 534-3131 or at email@example.com.
Interim Executive Vice Chancellor
