Led by Interim Dean Rajesh Gupta, the School of Computing, Information and Data Sciences (SCIDS) meets a critical need to transform data into actionable knowledge across disciplines to advance data science and AI education. SCIDS combines the strengths of the San Diego Supercomputer Center, a national leader in high-performance and data-intensive computing, and the Halicioğlu Data Science Institute, a pioneering interdisciplinary institute that advances data science and AI education and research.

The School of Physical Sciences consists of four major departments: astronomy & astrophysics, chemistry & biochemistry, mathematics, and physics. Under the direction of Dean Christine Hrycyna, the school offers over 3,900 undergraduate majors and minors, as well as interdisciplinary programs in science and mathematics education. Each of the school’s departments offer graduate degrees, and graduate students may pursue interdisciplinary programs in computational science, materials science, mathematics and science education, and quantitative biology.

UC San Diego’s School of Social Sciences is committed to the science of society and is driven by research, teaching, and service in the public interest. Founded in 1986, with the goal of increasing interdisciplinary collaboration, the school celebrates the diversity of ideas and people.
